Digital Art / Paintings & Airbrushing / Illustrations / Conceptual ©2009-2010 *moonxels
Mankind vanished from the Earth and went to another planet centuries ago , leaving behind ruins and ashes, an extremely polluted atmosphere ... a dead planet.
They left, leaving behind the huge statue of Gaia, Mother Earth, in a gigantic dome containing the last relics of nature (seeds, etc. ..)
Centuries later, against all odds, nature has reclaimed it’s right and these innocent animals have unwittingly found the source of this miraculous revival...

The Horseman Doll Factory

The 1940s and early 1950s was a successful time for the Horseman Doll Company. The progress in their three-story factory complex at the corner of Adeline Street and Chestnut Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey was racing to the tune of producing about one million and a half dolls per year. As many as 12,000 dolls per day were rolling out from their factory in the peak production months of August and September. The size of these dolls was 12 to 26 inches. The company employed full and part time employees. The Horseman Doll Company was a bit different from other toymakers as well. They made everything in one spot, the dolls, the clothing outfits and even the boxes the dolls came in were made at the Horseman Doll Company.

The company had a research lab where technicians worked to perfect the vinyl compounds. About 300 women operated sewing machines, working on doll dresses and coats, while another team of men with electric blades were cutting out the pieces of fabric that were 18 thicknesses of cloth at a time. This amounted to 18 doll dresses or outfits per cut. Imagine the buzz of those sewing machines barely able to keep up with materials being sent to their work stations. This team of employees worked well and hard under a union. They made high quality dolls and good money. However, for management, this was a bit of a flaw as most other doll companies had manufacturing sites in New York City and they paid their workers much less.

Financial trouble again haunted the Horsman Doll Company in early 1953. They announced closure of the plant. Of course, union and workers announced concessions, however things moved on. The basic problem was "labor costs," which was never actually solved. The firm was purchased by Botany Mills Inc., in 1957, however, its management remained much unchanged.

Hi

By Peter S. Quinn

I had to shoot my way out
Because people were getting rough
They say I move too much about
Like a gangster getting tough

I only wanted some France food
But they said I wasn't polite
They thought my attitude was rude
And eating folks caused a fright

I know I’m only a little dinosaur
And I’m merely a tourist here
My clumsiness is in peace not war
And we ruled once everywhere

***

All I am saying
Is give dinosaur a chance
The little fellow is just playing
He wants to see you dance

He’s much for the rumba beat
And wants to see you all hop
He’s got the guns and big feet
So dance, dance on - don't stop!

Much talk is about his robbery
But he only stole some apples
He needs to have foods for free
So he can do more wiggles

***

They say I’m a mere joke
A Ben Heine’s pencil stroke
That might not be telling a lie
Though I have a different alibi

I was sent from gangster’s dinosaur
Since their town isn’t safe anymore
They are attempting to come back
Through a time machine walk

This is just the beginning of the end
I’m the 1st one to Earth send
The guns are just extra kick
Next comes my fiancé Ms Dinosaur

Road to Eyjafjallajokull by =DaviaJJ on deviantART

Artist's Comments
This photo was taken on the road to the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland.
-----------------------------
From Wiki: "Eyja-fjalla glacier" or "island-fells glacier"—is one of the smaller glaciers of Iceland, situated to the north of Skógar and to the west of Mýrdalsjökull. The icecap of the glacier covers a volcano with a summit elevation of 1,666 metres (5,466 ft). The volcano has erupted relatively frequently since the last glacial period.
-----------------------------
The volcano, which has a crater 3–4 kilometres (1.9–2.5 mi) in diameter, erupted in 920, 1612 and again from 1821 to 1823 when it caused a glacial lake outburst flood.[2] It erupted twice in 2010—on 20 March and 14 April. The March event forced a brief evacuation of around 500 local people,[3][4] but the April eruption was ten to twenty times more powerful and caused massive disruption to air traffic across Northern Europe. Our thoughts and payers are with everyone involved in this event.

Gay Blood by *tiredbees on deviantART

Artist's Comments
After reading the .PDF download from [link] , I have been move to do something As the late Anita Roddick said, "Do something. Do anything. Just do something." I'm still not shore what to do, but I have found something wrong.

In the UK you can not give blood as a gay man, with out lying about your sexuality, as on the Nation Blood Services web-site under "Who can give Blood" [link] on question twelve after the one about HIV/AIDS, it asks "Are you a man who has had oral or anal sex with another (even if you use a condom)? Now with out lying and I gather on declarations like this one, I would be breaking the law? Now I'm not a doctor so I not know anything about this but still how can it effect the blood. So when I has some surgery recently, I had to have some blood and now that I'm better I would like to give some of my rare blood group back to the Nation.

Comments
~KarasuChan666 Apr 23, 2008, 3:56:01 AM
It's unfortunate that people of alternate sexualities can't give blood for whatever reason. They act like straights don't get AIDS too. All they need to do is look at the percentages and they see that in the U.S. there are more straight people with AIDS than gays....
Reply

*tiredbees Apr 23, 2008, 6:47:12 AM
thank you for this comment, is it true that GAYs are not aloud to give blood in the U.S. too.

~KarasuChan666 Apr 25, 2008, 5:17:42 AM
Oh i know that it's true. I am bisexual and i give blood all the time. I know that it is probably illegal and all but they don't need to know that. I like donating blood, and knowing that i have saved a few lives. I wish that the gay/bi/trans community would fight for their rights more than they do but we can only do so much. Someday we'll have equal rights.

~Rain-yatsu Aug 10, 2008, 10:21:42 PM
what!? there are more straight people with AIDS than gay people?! fuck you straight people who made this law and those who agree with this law!!

~AinuPrincess Jul 21, 2009, 9:18:16 AM
And you know the sad thing? Even though in the US gays have AIDS the most, world wide, its heterosexuals that are most likely to be infected.

~The-Truth-In-The-Lie 20 hours 58 minutes ago
Hello. I hope you dont mind. I liked your picture so I linked it to my article. Gay Blood Ban - For or Against?
Here is a link [link] in case you want to read it.

If you don’t want your picture on it then tell me and I’ll take it down

~hieithefallen 14 hours 10 minutes ago
People seem to think that gay men contract and spread HIV/AIDS more than straight people do and even though it isn't true, people believe it sadly

I'm not sure I understand why people think that HIV and AIDS is strictly a homosexual disease. It has nothing to do with sexuality but the person you sleep with, gay or straight.

I wish it wasn't true, because it's completely unfair and if a gay man's blood saved my life, I wouldn't care that he was gay. I would care that he was a good enough person to help someone else in need.

Another T-shirt design. I'm designing these for T-shirts, doing the seperations myself, not just having a print translated to a shirt. The shirts will be very nice, -no thick, chunky plastisol ink. These will be water-based ink on high quality garments.

Animator vs. Animation by *alanbecker on deviantART

Artist's Comments
An animator faces his own animation in deadly combat. The battlefield? The Flash interface itself.
A stick figure is created by an animator with the intent to torture. The stick figure drawn by the animator will be using everything he can find - the brush tool, the eraser tool - to get back at his tormentor. It's resourcefulness versus power. Who will win? You can find out yourself.

I'm not sure the name of this mountain, it's not named on any map that I've seen. Here's the location if anyone can help find the name: [link]&z=15

We camped at South Mineral campground outside of Silverton CO and this view was within a five minute drive of the campground. Just continue on down the road past the campground to get to it. A 4WD will help, but is not required if you take your time and have a little bit of ground clearance.

I froze my feet off walking through the stream that is running to the right. This shot was far more challenging to take than it appears. Those alpine marshes are filled with all kind of surprises. But in all it was a great way to start the day.

This was shot as an HDR pano and cropped down to an 8x10 format.

I thought I'd take a break from the dragons since I don't want my gallery to have a dragon-obsessed look So here it is, my Assassin's Creed fanart.

I am not too crazy about the game, the use of Turkish Flags as Saracen's Flags bugged me, and the Turkish speaking Templars was like wtf? But the gameplay and the overall graphic quality was incredible and the character animations amazed me so I decided to make a piece about it. I took a screenshot as reference and went from there so I hope you like this.

i've never shot a bike race before. it was weird shooting it at first cuz its all competitive and stuff, and i felt out of place being there...but once i changed my gameface to that of a photog, yeah it was all good and a fun challenge.

i don't know if the next series of shots are any good, so any constructive critisism would be great. thank ya.

oh and these are shots of the fantastic four race here in kelowna, so if you know anybody who was in it or a part of it, please let them know.

The hug by ~Nerrianah on deviantART

Artist's Comments
Well, I had this creative spree today, so I drew. Nick and Greg, once again, did not cooperate with me. Damn it, I just cant get them right. (tho I think I did a better job than last time) Greg looks like a puppy and Nick...he was evil today. But I find them both cute anyway hehe. Now, Im gonna complain a bit as well. I want another Nick/Greg artist to materialize coz I wanna squee over cute art as well I cant squee over my own. I always find something that bothers me... Or I could just phone both in, and do a live portrait of them both...doing kinky stuff hehe.

Ok all joke aside, Nick and Greg in a hug. I hope you enjoy it.

Stay with me by ~xmama on deviantART

Artist's Comments
Well, I finally finished the pic. It's okay I guess. I was a bit lazy with the hair, but they weren't very detailed on the ref-pic. To me, it was important to capture the desparation in his face and also get the shading right.
This scene is from "Shortbus", it's Paul Dawson. Hope you like it!

Took me forever... I can't tell... 10 hours or more?
Pencil 2B, 6B, 8B, mechanical pencil 2B.

PJ by ~xmama on deviantART

Artist's Comments
I finished the picture of PJ DeBoy. He's an American actor who, like Paul Dawson, plays in "Shortbus".I really thought he would be easier to draw than he was but it was very difficult to the resemblance right. I think it looks ok now. I guess it took me about 7 hours or more to draw this.Pencil, 2B, 6B, mechanical pencil B, kneaded eraser, tissue.

You want me by *nabey on deviantART

This drawing is for who asked me to do it She's loved it, yahooo!!! she's such an amazing artist I'm really honored she wanted me to draw it! Please check out her gallery if you haven't, she's got an amazing style that make her drawings very unique.Well, about the drawing, Gale Harold as you can see (and if you know ~xmama you should know who he is, lol). For those who don't know him, he's an actor, whose most famous role was Brian Kinney in Queer as Folk.I didn't know which title to choose, I've started watching that show recently, and in the show he always have that you-want-me-look, he can get anything and anyone he wants, so I thought that would be fine.Pencils 2B to 6B and 0.5 HB and 2B mechanical pencilsDuration: I really don't know, but I think 6-7 hoursSize: A4 (21 x 29,7 cm)

The Forgotten Seals - Cover by *PennilessWriter on deviantART

Artist's Comments
Okay, this is the best photo I could get of it, which is really annoying me because it looks terrible and in real life I am pleased with it. As it is supposed to be a book cover picture for my most recent novel (which will be finished very, very soon), and is a redone version of another book... (I think there's an old copy of the same pic in my scraps!) I want it to be good quality, so I will hopefully either get someone to scan it properly for me, or I will buy a scanner, because I really can't bear it. It looks awful! Anyway, if you use your imagination you can probably get some sort of idea what it looks like.

I am maybe going to colour it on Photoshop when I have time...

Urm, the drawing was adapted from a photo of Keira Knightley. I hope it doesn't look like her anymore, not too much anyway.

It's A3, and it took about 4 hours. I used an HB pencil and a 4B, and smudged it accidentally with the side of my hand about a thousand times.

Married to a fruit II. by ~charke on deviantART

Artist's Comments
'Ee' or 'Bel Bivaha' is an old Newari tradition that still is practiced. In this two day ceremony a young girl [before puberty] is symbolically married to a fruit called 'Bel' [Aegle Marmelos] which represents Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the girl will never have to be a widow since she is married to a god. The little girls are dressed in Nepalese marriage garbs, the red sari etcetera

i happened to visit one such ceremony yesterday when my cousin too was being married to the fruit they preform this ceremony in groups and yesterday's group had 18 little brides

my cousin all dressed up
