Profile

I have always been interested in communicating complex ideas and information through the use of alternative methods to writing, as a result of the challenges of dyslexia. On my work experience at school as a car mechanic I learned people skills and confidence. This helped me learn how to communicate with people (such as the boss, colleagues and customers) with different skills, interests and backgrounds. At school I thoroughly enjoyed working in the Art Faculty, then my interests were greatly stimulated by my year at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, which has broadened my horizons by the use of different media and software. This also greatly assisted me to improve my drawing skills. Since then I feel my abilities have developed greatly during the two years of HND at TVU (King’s Road Campus, Reading) and after a gap year I decided to study for a further year in order to complete the BA.

I’m looking forward to being given the opportunity to develop my visual communication skills, with the stimulation of a professional working environment.

Interests

My interests are not confined to the Arts. For example I have a great interest in personal computing and I manage my families home networks and provide computer support to various friends and relatives. I have built my own computers as well as several for members of my family. It takes great patience, as they don't always behave as expected, and when they go wrong you need considerable problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Over the past 3 years I have been lucky enough to own a iMac G5, an iBook G4 then a PowerBook G4 and iMac Ai/SO. Owning Macs has enabled (and on occasion, forced) me to learn a great deal about them. I spend a lot of time investigating new innovations such as the latest processor developments, 'bus' technologies and graphics cards. My Technical abilities also extend into high-end Hi-Fi and I have a good understanding of the physics behind it as well as the music I play on the system. I also love to relax by playing real times strategy games.
