It looks like the Pirate Party (Piratpartiet) are getting a seat in the European parliament after tonight’s election in Sweden. After 5.653 of 5.664 districts have been counted the pirates are holding a 7.1 share of the votes which is sufficient to grant them 1 seat in the European parliament! (source DN.se).

The party came to life in 2006 but gained a lot more attention after the trail of the Pirate Bay website founders (Spectrail).
