AN ‘INJURED ' who turned up in Crystal Palace earlier this afternoon with possible gunshot wounds has sparked a major  incident.

Emergency services, including the Met's helicopter, were called to Crystal Palace Parade at around 3pm and the bus station remains closed while the police deal with the situation.

One man who saw the drama unfold from his seat on a 157 bus said: “I was on the bus going along Westow Hill quite slowly, I looked out the window to see a who was possibly in his late twenties or early thirties just down.

“I thought he was drunk at first then I noticed a fair amount of blood coming out the bottom of his trousers.

“Someone was standing by him calling the police (I assume) then the bus went on to the Parade.”

The witness, who wants to be known only as Keith, added: “About five minutes later an ambulance and medic car came to the bus terminal on the Parade and got out to talk to police officers in a police at the terminal.

“I went over to tell them what I saw and said I thought he may have been stabbed but the ambulance man said it was a shooting (possibly, I'm not sure he knew at that point for sure).”They were being held at the terminal until they were given the ok that it was safe to go tend to the man.”That's all I know.”

On Twitter at 3.20pm the police helicopter @MPSinthesky tweeted: “Overhead Crystal Palace @MPSBromley assisting with downlink pictures following a serious assault.”

And 's safer neighbourhood team Sergeant Gareth Starr tweeted “Disruption at # bus terminus. Police responding to an incident with the help of @MPSinthesky”

Met Police spokesman said: “It is to do with a male that turned up in the area claiming to be injured in some way.“It's not really clear at the moment.“He was looked at by the ambulance.”

London Ambulance Service spokeswoman says they were called to a ‘possible shooting' at 2.40pm.

At first they were called to Crystal Palace Parade but then found the patient in nearby Westow Hill.

He was taken to hospital around an hour later.

The LAS spokeswoman could not give any details as to the nature of the man's injuries.

The bus station is expected to reopen later this evening but while it is closed routes 3, 157, 227, 322, 358, 410 and 417 are affected.

The road remains open.
