More Strikes on Southern RailwayPassengers on are in for more disruption after a five strike in from next week.

Members of the RMT Union will be on strike from 00.01 on Monday 8 August until 23.59 on 12 August, meaning that a whole working week of disruption is likely.

The strike is due to the continued dispute over the service operator Thameslink's decision to change conductors' jobs so they're no longer in charge of opening and closing doors. The says that task is vital for safety.

Mayor of Sadiq Khan recently called for Southern to be stripped of its franchise due to ongoing delays and cancellations.

Passengers have been putting up with months of industrial action and “unprecedented levels of staff sickness”, compounded by Southern cutting 341 from its timetable.
