In a story that’s so crazy it just might be true, a photo reportedly taken in the offices of director James Mangold and placed on Instagram could be our first look at a poster for The Wolverine. Screenrant made the discovery on the picture sharing service (which has now been deleted).
Thanks to Screenrant for finding this image.

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in ‘The Lone Ranger’

For The Lone Ranger, Disney is working with tactics that are almost exactly opposite to what Warner Bros. did with its own new Johnny Depp vehicle, Dark Shadows. The Lone Ranger just started shooting, and we’ve already got the first image of Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer (The Social Network, J. Edgar) as the title character.

The Muppets Finally Respond to Fox News

You might remember that laughable Fox Business News Channel Report that claimed that The Muppets was brainwashing kids against capitalism and the oil industry. While doing press for the international release of the film, Kermit and Miss Piggy were finally asked and given the opportunity to respond. Watch the priceless video now, embedded after the jump.
The Muppets Respond:
Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy hit back at Fox News during a UK press conference following the London Premiere of their new film. Fox had publically criticized the film for supposedly pushing a ‘dangerous liberal agenda’ at kids.
Kermit mocks their blatant and pointless fear mongering before Miss Piggy offers her own opinion on Fox News.

Funnies: Iris 9000 Voice Control Module for Siri

Having an artificially intelligent computer at our beck and call has long been the fantasy of every green blooded sci-fi fan amongst us. Finally Siri on the iPhone 4s has given us a tantalizing taste of this promised future… and we’re lapping it up.
However it’s not all roses in our 2011 A.I. future tech fantasy. Sure Siri can schedule appointments, make funny quips and answer inane trivia questions with the help of Wolfram Alpha but she has one failing… to get her to listen you’ve got to have your hands on your phone and push a button. Somehow when we imagined the future of smart computer companions we assumed that shouting at them from across the room to do our bidding was part of the package. Apparently not.
Therefore you can see why we were forced to create the Iris 9000 voice control module for iPhone & Siri. Simply place your iPhone into the Iris 9000 cradle and use the included micro remote to trigger Siri up to 50 feet away. Just tap the Iris 9000 remote button once, listen for the Siri chime, and speak your command. The built in mic on the Iris 9000 picks up your voice from across the room and the embedded speaker amplifies Siri’s spoken responses. You can also make and receive calls using the Iris 9000 like a standard speakerphone. Oh and did we mention that Iris 9000′s glowing eye flickers along with Siri’s voice? How’s that for amazing Buckaroo Banzai future tech?

SOTD: Where Was It Filmed Database

A new website has popped online with a useful, but lofty, goal: catalog as many filming locations for as many movies as possible so fans have the information at their fingertips. It sounds impossible, and most likely is, but the Where Was It Filmed Database is making a run at it anyway.
It’s a user generated site, such as the IMDB or Wikipedia, so in addition to just browsing around, users can head over to www.wwifdb.com and add in filming locations either from their favorite movies, movies shot near your hometown or whatever you can contribute. That info then gets put in the general database and hopefully, over time, most of the movies people might search will have a helpful map of filming locations.

Dexter Intro – Saul Bass Style

The poster series that I created for Dexter was inspired by mid-century modern design and particularly the work of Saul Bass — who developed both static graphics as well as animated title sequences. I collaborated with my friends at Fashion Buddha to create an alternative title sequence for Dexter using the artwork that I developed for the posters. This is what I imagine the Dexter title sequence might look like if the show had aired in the 60′s.
You can see the posters here: Sho.com/tymattson
I can’t wait for the season premiere on 10/2!

‘The Walking Dead’ Season Two

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 16 — just more than a month from now — and promos are starting to drop a bit more frequently. We’ve got a new Rick Grimes-themed promo below, along with a poster that also features the series’ hero dashing down the highway.
Here is fifteen seconds of Grimes-y tease in which Andrew Lincoln’s character seems to set aside the authoritative part of his identity.
