#southeastern to ease overcrowding by removing all seats from carriages. Customers wishing to sit during their journey will be granted permission to rent chairs at a rate of £10 per 15 minutes*. For heartland safety reasons, passengers will not be able to use their own chairs. *please note that the company providing seats are not affiliated with southeastern and therefore not liable for additional costs incurred from delays

Just sit on your trolly bag. I’m not joking – when I commuted via Sevenoaks that was the only way to sit down. That is why I switched to Bat’n’Ball even though the journey is twice as long and it goes through ‘low-life city’.
Have SE considered putting roof racks on trains for extra passengers (as in India)? I thought they were overhead pick-ups on the Ashford line, but maybe they aren’t…..
And what about all that space between the carriages and rails? Passenger box space for those (like me) who want to sleep throughout the journey. Just rent a sleeping bag (for safety reasons you would not be allowed to use your own).
