The cathedral has a basilical plan with three longitudinal aisles, the central one being wider and taller. At the top of this, half-point arched windows open. The of the lateral ships with the central one is resolved by six large columns (three per side) coniform.

The proportions of the church floor must have been conditioned by the topography of its land. The measures of the central nave are seventy meters in length, thirteen in width and nineteen in height, the side aisles are thirty in length, eight in width and ten and a half in height, the transept is the same height as the central nave by ten wide and fifty three long. The ships are formed by three sections with arcades with ribbed vaults.

The meeting of the central nave and the transept was solved with a large octagonal dome on tubes, covered with a ribbed vault with a walkable upper gallery and large windows that illuminate the center of the cathedral.

The head is composed of a large central apse and four smaller semicircular vaults with a sphere, converted into chapels by the illustrious families of the in medieval times. The first apse of the northern part has disappeared due to the explosion of the powder magazine of the castle of La Suda in 1812 and the second on that side became a sacristy during the fifteenth century. The central apse is preserved in its primitive construction. The next to the south side only retains part of its walls and the last apse is also virtually missing.

The thick cruciform pillars that contain sixteen columns each, are those that support the slabs and formeros arches that in turn support the nerves of the ribbed vaults. The section of these pillars has been justified by its adaptation of the Romanesque to the covering of the ships, already with Gothic influence, which made the columns lengthen to the ribs of the cross.

The interior capitals of the columns that support the ogives and the toral arches as well as the separation between the ships and those of the entrance to the head, are profusely sculpted with varied representations: vegetal, geometric, zoomorphic and historized with themes of the Old and New Will. With two differentiated styles, those of the head part are Occitan and the rest of the .The first sculptural activity in some historic capitals presents a parallel style to the north of Italy, inspired by the works that Benedetto Antelami had developed in The baptistery of , and related to the figure of Ramón de Bianya, are reliefs with great descriptive sense and figures with great energy, where you can see in their backgrounds the sign of work with trepan, the iconography that represents are biblical scenes together with fantastic and plant motifs and are found mainly in the capitals that communicate the transept with the side aisles. From the year 1215, the sculptural works show a less precious technique and with more flat volumetric values and the ornamental representation predominates over the figurative, these themes of composition and technique are related to the capitals of the Tolosano cloister of La Dorada, are these works in the cathedral of Lleida, in the capitals of the upper level of the cruise and the central nave as well as in the capitals of the gallery of the cloister closest to the facade. The most important work within the cathedral of this sculptural workshop was mainly the doors of the Anunciata, dels Fillols and the main one of the temple.

In its interior it conserves important rest of mural paintings and monumental sculpture, although great part of the works of art that it contained were pillaged, after the War of Succession.

Orignal Text:
