Russia declares anti-gay violence newest Olympic sport

A new powerful video produced by the and Athlete Ally depicts violence against a gay couple as the newest sport.

In the 2-minute video, titled ‘Russia Declares Discrimination Newest Olympic Sport', released by the Fair Project, the happy and peaceful gay couple are seen embracing, before a gang of uniform-clad athletes viciously beat them in front of a cheering stadium full of onlookers.

The Russia Freedom Fund was launched late in in collaboration with ILGA-Europe and activists. It aims to draw attention to issues faced by LGBT people in Russia, where the Sochi Winter is currently taking place.

Last year Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a bill banning the “promotion of non-traditional relationships” to minors, with fines of thousands of pounds and the threat of deportation for tourists found in violation of the law.

This video was created by THE FAIR GAMES PROJECT with funds raised independently via It is meant to serve as a catalyst for dialogue and a gesture of support for Athlete Ally, LGBT advocates in Russia, and the Russia Freedom Fund. Berserk was the sole entity behind the project's creation.
